This brief from the Loss and Damage Collaboration and the Human Rights and Climate Change Working Group explains what the Universal Period Review (UPR) of the Human Rights Council is, and how it can be used as an important tool to ensure that countries take rights-based action on loss and damage. It provides recommendations for civil society on how to engage to secure integration of loss and damage in the UPR process, including with suggested questions and recommendations for high-emitting States with historic responsibilities, and for low-emitting and highly climate vulnerable States.
