Advocacy and Outreach

Teo (he/him) is an award winning artist, filmmaker and photographer working on projects relating to political ecology, Loss and Damage, climate-induced migration and displacement, Slow Violence and the political and cultural critique of the Anthropocene. Teo also works to coordinate the L&DC's Advocacy and Art and Culture programs and supports their communications work.

Erin (she/her) is a climate policy researcher with a multi-disciplinary background. She has degrees in biology, international relations and international development with a PhD on the way in which leadership shaped the evolution of Loss and Damage policy in Bangladesh. She remains curious about how leadership can contribute to scaling up climate action on all fronts. Erin has worked in a range of geographical contexts and has supported both the Least Developed Country (LDC) Group and the African Group of Negotiators (AGN) in the global climate negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). She also worked in the African SIDS with the African Climate Policy Centre and the Africa Adaptation Initiative while supporting the AGN In every aspect of her work Erin endeavours to empower young climate leaders from the global South including through her role as founder and convener of the Climate Leadership Initiative.

Hyacinthe (she/her) is a water scientist with experience in the fields of Loss and Damage as well as broader climate policy. In her role, she oversees day-to-day operations, coordinates the L&DC membership and leads and supports the delivery of technical outputs—particularly related to the Warsaw International Mechanism for Loss and Damage and its Santiago Network. She also co-leads our Santiago Network project, where she drives member engagement and coordination.

Tariq (he/him) is a multidisciplinary communications specialist whose expertise lies at the intersection of information and design. He holds a Master’s Degree in Information Science and Bilingual Journalism from the Sorbonne University and has over two decades of experience working on campaigns within the development sector. He oversees the L&DC's communications strategy and output together with the Advocacy Lead. His role includes leading design projects, managing digital content creation and ensuring consistent, high-impact messaging across all channels. He also develops and maintains both the front-end user experience and the back-end functionality of our website.

Brenda (she/her) is a climate change advocate with more than eight years of experience in policy advocacy, community engagement, partnerships, climate education, and intergovernmental processes. She is currently a negotiator for Malawi on Loss and Damage and coordinates the Finance Working Group of the Loss and Damage Collaboration. She has expertise in gender and youth mainstreaming and engagement. Brenda is also a farmer and uses the platform to advocate for sustainable food systems.

Asara Bullen (she/her) is a climate justice advocate and communications specialist with over seven years of experience across humanitarian, government, and private sectors. As the Engagement Lead at the Loss and Damage Collaboration (L&DC), she strengthens grassroots participation and drives global awareness on climate justice. Her work spans strategic communications, stakeholder engagement, and public advocacy, with representation at key events like the Africa Climate Summit and UNFCCC COP27,COP28 and COP29. Asara is committed to amplifying community voices, particularly youth and women, in climate policy and action. She champions inclusive dialogue, resilience building and sustainable development through storytelling and community-driven initiatives.

Heidi is an Australian lawyer, climate justice advocate and leading expert on Loss and Damage. As an independent consultant, she combines legal knowledge and a strategic and collaborative approach, working with a range of stakeholders to advance equitable and ambitious outcomes. Heidi advises developing countries across key Loss and Damage bodies, co-leads our Santiago Network Project and mentors young negotiators from developing countries, who she considers critical drivers of change.
