On February 5, 2024, the Loss and Damage Collaboration and the Platform on Disaster Displacement (PDD) jointly convened the 9th call of the "Loss and Damage and the Challenges of Human Mobility and Displacement Working Group". The Group brings together experts working on Loss and Damage and Human Mobility to share experiences and work towards common advocacy objectives. On this occasion, the call was co-hosted with the Advisory Group on Climate Change and Human Mobility.

The call was attended by some 50 participants, including members of both groups and focused on the following topics:

1. A short COP28 debrief with Q&A

2. Looking at ways forward with a calendar of key moments for Human Mobility and Loss and Damage in 2024

3. Provisional plans for the year for the two groups, and opportunities for coordination

The slideshow that was used to facilitate the webinar is available here, and includes links to all the documents and processes discussed in the call.

During the call, it was decided that the groups will facilitate thematic calls to unpack open policy issues on displacement and Loss & Damage. The list of topics highlighted by the groups’ members is available here.
