We are looking for a Fundraising Lead to lead our resource mobilisation strategy and fundraising efforts. The role will focus on building and sustaining strong relationships with funders, expanding and managing a robust pipeline of prospective funders and developing targeted proposals to secure financial resources to enable us to achieve our ambitious mission.

The successful candidate will work closely with the global lead, communications and coordination teams to develop compelling concept notes and narratives on why Loss and Damage finance is critical, organise meetings and curate spaces to bring funders together for technical briefings and lead the development of high-quality funding proposals and applications.

About the role

Title: Fundraising Lead

Organisation: Loss and Damage Collaboration (L&DC)

Location: Remote

Term: Full time (4 days a week) from 1 March through December 31, 2026 (if funding is successfully procured the role will continue)

Start date: March 2nd

Freelance contract

Renumeration: £500 a day

Experience level: Minimum of 10 years experience

What You Will Do

  • Lead L&DC’s fundraising and resource mobilisation strategy.
  • Develop, maintain, and expand a prospect list of potential funders.
  • Build and manage long-term relationships with existing and prospective funders.
  • Conduct regular outreach to new funders to introduce L&DC and its work.
  • Lead the development of funding proposals, concept notes, and grant applications in collaboration with the team.
  • Work with the communications team to craft funder-targeted messaging and materials.
  • ⁠Liaise with technical experts and programme teams to organise funder briefings and convenings on Loss and Damage developments.
  • Track fundraising progress, manage pipelines, and support funder reporting as required.

Who We’re Looking For

You are a strategic, credible, and collaborative fundraising professional who is comfortable working across policy, advocacy, and technical contexts. You bring strong relationship skills, sound judgment, and the ability to move confidently between high-level strategy and detailed proposal development.

You bring:

  • ⁠At least 10 years’ experience in fundraising, development, or resource mobilisation.
  • Proven success securing funding from foundations, philanthropic institutions, or public/institutional donors.
  • Strong verbal, written, listening, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and senior stakeholders.
  • ⁠The ability to work across cultures, regions, and global contexts.
  • A strong commitment to climate justice, equity, and collaboration.
  • Experience in climate, development, human rights, or social justice organisations is strongly preferred.
